Found in abundance in the skin of red grapes, Resveratrol is known to have many health benefits. Despite being highly beneficial compound there are some side effects of Resveratrol which have been reported, though in very rare cases.

Resveratrol has been in news ever since it was discovered that under experimental conditions mice did not gain weight despite being overfed. In the same findings it was mentioned that aging process was also slowed to a great extent in the mice under examination. These mice were kept on Resveratrol diet and all the effects that were visible in mice were found to be true for humans as well.

However what was not mentioned in these findings was that there were some side effects which cannot be overlooked, though very few in numbers.

    • In case Resveratrol is consumed in excess quantity moderate to severe diarrheais possible. This usually happens when people do not bother to go through instructions and start taking it in juice form just like soft drink. Resveratrol has taken a place of favorite beverage in many families still there are some limitation we should follow.
    • Resveratrol works as an appetite suppressant. It results in total loss of hunger in some extreme cases. Remember, it is a diet supplement not a substitute therefore even if you do not feel hungry you should never avoid your regular diet.
    • Some people have also reported to have faced insomnia. You lose sleep for extended period. It shows high energy levels but is not considered good if it happens for long.

These are the main side effects, if any. In some case people report that if does not effect at all, which is also possible if you are perfectly fine and no medication is required. As it is recommended for anyone above the age of 18, it may not affect either positively or negatively to those younger than 18. However this is also a rare situation. Usually effects are seen no matter how old you are.
